FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LIGHT PLAYS TRICKS 4 SCHEDULE
Almost 50 international, Canadian, and Kingston films and videos set to screen.

KINGSTON, ON. The 4th edition of Kingston's LIGHT PLAYS TRICKS, a short film, video and new media festival, is happy to announce its schedule (at the end of this document). LPT4 runs from FRIDAY OCTOBER 19 to SUNDAY OCTOBER 21, 2001 at THE SCREENING ROOM in Downtown Kingston, Ontario, Canada.

Thank you to our sponsors: Curry Original Restaurant, Linden Audio Video, Cogeco 13 Kingston, Baldwin Presentation Systems, Delightfully Different Tea House, and The Screening Room.

The schedule contains three programmes, Wackiness (comedies), Music, Mathematics, and Dark Visions (dramatic works, musicals, video art, and science-fiction), and Kingston Filmmaker Series (produced by local artists or artists with connections to Kingston). One programme is screened per day.

Some highlights of the programmes are

"Radiation Can Give You Brain Tumors" - LPT3 Featured Director Matthew Silver (Bergenfield, New Jersey, USA) returns to bring us a comedy about a simple man with a simple job who discovers his household appliance emit carcinogenic electromagnetic waves. (Director to attend festival)
"A Song for Honest Abe" - a hilarious mockumentary about a group of musician who put famous Abraham Lincoln speeches to music will be presented as a world premiere. (Director Charles Miller from Los Angeles, California, USA to attend festival)
"Death Jerk Off 2000" and "Dance Habibi Dance" - two hypnotic films by featured director Usama Alshaibi (Chicago, Illinois, USA), whose works combine music video, erotica, and video art.
"B-Men 3" - an impressive (and funny!) stop-motion video made by local 12-year old Dan Johnson (Kingston, Ontario, Canada) about an elite group of Beanie Baby superheroes.
"Conscienceness" - Local filmmaker Jason Gilmore (Kingston, Ontario, Canada) presents a mature dramatic film about a crime and the letter to the police chief that reveals as much as it hides.
"Sahara" and "Women Are Not Little Men" - Lisa Hayes (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) returns to LPT as a featured director with two films.
"T.H.E.Y." - Stephen Koncelik and Joe Ferroni's (Los Angeles, California, USA) new video; an investigation of the origin of homosexuality. Is it nature, nurture, or... something else?
A series of Special Screenings to be announced at the festival, including Academy Award winners, films inspired by LPT3, and video art.

Each programme is $5 and proceeds will go to The Child Development Center at Hotel Dieu Hospital. At Light Plays Tricks 3, 100% of ticket revenues were donated to the Child Development Center. Tickets will be available starting October 15 at The Screening Room.

Please note that the screening order in any given programme may change, and there may still be schedule additions.
